Alexandros Ferles

Alexandros Ferles is a PhD candidate at the department of Radiology and Nuclear medicine of the VU medisch centrum, working on deep neural networks applied on glioma patient MRI scans within the PICTURE project. His work includes deep-learning-based automatic tumor segmentation in high and low grade gliomas, tumor progression estimation and patient survival rate prediction. He holds a double degree (joint Bachelor and Master) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in Greece and a Master of Science in Machine Learning from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. Prior to joining the PICTURE project, he worked as a research engineer in the Robotics and Perception lab of KTH with a focus in deep learning for dermatology image recognition and Out-of-Distribution detection in both the medical and natural image domains.
